Temple

Pure Science without bias, and pure Religion without superstition

are one and the same.

Hello,

My name is Dan Hankins, and Science Temple exists to share my religious philosophy with others.  The word science is taken from the Latin word scienta and means “knowledge.”  I consider myself a seeker of knowledge.  I do not share these essays because they are in any way superior to any other person’s ideas; rather, I share them because I have been asked by a number of people to share them.  Further, I believe that my spirituality is in complete agreement with both science and reason.

I live near Memphis, Tennessee and all of my education (a BA and two MA’s) is in Pastoral Counseling and Theology.  I consider my higher education to be the greatest waste of time and money in my life.  I found my greatest teachers to be life and personal experience.

I was a pastor, writer, evangelist, and counselor for many years.  After years of intellectual compromise I committed myself to Socrates’ advice to “Follow the evidence wherever it may lead.”  The evidence led me to the rejection of all organized religions, including Christianity, the religion of my nation and my youth.  I am not an atheist.  Instead, I have a firmer belief in God than ever before in my life, primarily because it is founded on honesty and held in complete integrity.

I no longer adhere to any organized religion, creed, or hierarchy.  I follow my heart which is my only Temple, my conscience which is my only Priest, and Nature which is my only Bible.

This Site Seeks to Explore the Following Hypotheses Through Honest Intellectual Inquiry

1.)   There is a Supreme Intelligence orchestrating nature on this planet.  This Intelligence is a Life Force that animates all living things throughout the universe.  This Field of Intelligence is non-conceptual, and indefinable at this point in our evolution.  However; there is no reason to believe that it is not compatible with all known laws of science and nature and is abundantly reflected therein.  This Universal Collective Consciousness has been called “God” or the “Tao” by some.

2.)   All knowledge originates in light and integrates with human consciousness through electromagnetic forces.  Consciousness is a field of electromagnetic energy bearing information bound by the laws of science pertaining to light as defined in the Theory of Relativity, and therefore; (1) it does not depend upon a physical body of mass for survival, and (2) it is perpetual to infinity.

3.) Organized religion of every kind impedes the progression of human evolution to an understanding of the Supreme Intelligence some call God.  Religions developed within cultural spheres of influence, with inflexible creeds derived from alleged “holy” books (such as the Koran, Bible, Torah, the Vedas, etc.) are intrinsically wrong; detrimental to universal spiritual and intellectual growth; and capable of visiting inestimable evil upon humanity and nature, as well as breeding leaders and followers with psychologically unstable minds capable of unpredictable injustice.

Dutch Cardiologist Pim Van Lommel finished a groundbreaking study of the continuity of consciousness beyond the physical death of the body.  Published in the British Medical Journal, Lancet, the article represents a milestone in medical research.  Some people who have survived a life-threatening crisis report an extraordinary experience. Near-death experiences (NDE) occur with increasing frequency because of improved survival rates resulting from modern techniques of resuscitation. The content of NDE and the effects on patients seem similar worldwide, across all cultures and times.  More…

ESSAYS ON THE SURVIVAL OF CONSCIOUSNESS BEYOND DEATH:

If human consciousness survives death, it must do so within the laws of science and nature.  Magic does not exist outside the minds of the naive.  Is there solid scientific laws, and observable phenomena that will accommodate the realistic concept of life after death?  The answer is yes.
